I'll be posting some pictures and videos tomorrow. I've taken over 2700 pictures (some duds, some not as interesting as I thought they would be) and I'm pulling out a small sampling. It's hard to choose, because I would like to show people what I've seen, as I've seen it, and I know that even looking at all the pictures, you wouldn't get a great feel for what it's like just being here (wherever "here" happens to be).
I'm staying one last day in Edinburgh. I waited a bit too late to get a good price on a train ticket to London, so I'm going to check again tomorrow morning. Obviously it would have been best to get a return (round-tip) ticket weeks or months in advance, but since I didn't know what my schedule would be, I have to pay extra for that flexibility. I've booked a room on Tuesday/Wednesday in northeast London, where I plan to use my ticket to Buckingham Palace, see the Tower Bridge up close, and hopefully pick up a souvenir related to Sweeney Todd (for my barber, his request). I need to put a call in to Delta Airlines and change my return date to Thursday. I took a quick glance at the seating arrangements; there are a few flights going out and there are a number of both first class and coach seats available, so I'm pretty confident I won't get bumped to an additional day. So I think, if I leave London on Thursday afternoon, I'll get to Atlanta...Thursday afternoon. Or something like that.
I set up a spreadsheet and tracked as many expenses as I could, and about had...what's it called when you clutch your left arm and fall over dead? One of those. Then I realized that I was tracking money machine withdrawals as expenses. Since I've been paying cash for as much as I can, that effectively doubled what it looked like my expenses were, haha. Well, very fortunately, because I've been able to work while vacationing, my checking account is still very much in the black.
I'm looking forward to getting back home and going through all my pictures, noting what each one is, and reliving all the great memories I've made on this vacation.
